Hans-Dieter Michatz | Australian Musical Treasures
Hans-Dieter is looking back at over half a century of pioneering historically informed performance practice. His European background and training have influenced generations of students and professionals in Australia. He has worked as a flute and recorder player with many ensembles and orchestras here and overseas, as well as conducting ground-breaking choral, orchestral and opera performances. Besides his acclaimed recording of Telemann’s Sonate Metodiche and the 6 Concerti, he features as soloist in the ABC Classics Brandenburg Concertiand in Salut Baroque, Sydney Consort and Brandenburg Orchestra CDs. Hans-Dieter has taught at the Sydney Conservatorium since the early 1990s, was Classical Coordinator and lecturer at the Australian Institute of Music and currently teaches in the AMPA Classical Program.

Salut! has presented baroque masterpieces in concert for over 28 years with many of Australia’s most accomplished performers. The August series sees them farewell Hans-Dieter Michatz as he retires from performing. Hans is well known to audiences – join Salut! at ‘Corelli’s Magic’ for his final show – August 18 in Canberra and August 20 in Sydney.
